Badgerfang had woken up early, the sky still milky and dark, as she rose from her nest and shook loose feathers from her fur. Padding out of the warrior's den she first went to the prey pile in the middle of camp, sniffing at the empty spot. She had seen a few empty dens and assumed there was already a hunting party out, hopefully making good catches. With a sneeze Badgerfang stepped away from the middle of camp, headed for the rocky entrance, squeezing through and out onto the rocky cliffs. The harsh wind buffeted her from the North, sending a chill deep to her bones, shaking out the cold she unsheathed her claws for better grip as she began her descent to the valley below. While the hunting party stalked large birds and hares that could survive on the mountainside this she-cat had decided to roam down to the valley and check the border. Sometimes they'd get lucky and snag a mouse or shrew. Badgerfang parted her jaws, tasting the air and finding the scent of squirrel strong. Dropping into a crouch the she-cat's light blue eyes widened as they searched for movement in the dense valley heather. There, stuffing an acorn into it's cheek, was the squirrel only a few tail lengths away at the root of a tree. The warrior stalked forward as silently as possible, thanking her ancestors for her pelt color that blended near perfectly with the heather surrounding. A twitch of the squirrel's tail and Badgerfang knew that the wind had shifted, bringing her scent straight to the nose of her prey. Muscles in both hunter and prey quivered, the she-cat launching forward with a leap propelled by her strong back legs, sending her hurdling through the undergrowth towards the rodent. The chase was over within seconds, though it had seemed to last an eternity, ending as Badgerfang sunk her teeth into the squirrel's neck. It left out a short, terrified shriek that was cut off as it's neck was snapped. Lifting her head Badgerfang looked around, ears rotating and laying flat against her skull as she realized she didn't know where she was, tall trees surrounding her on either side.

Meanwhile, Branchtail had fallen behind in the patrol. The other two cats were just far away blobs of grey now. She sighed and sat down, her tail wrapping around her body. "Can't do anything right......" "She'd be alive if not for you...." "What a slacker...." The voices of the past pounded in her head, and she growled, trying to push them away. ((Branchy having a depressed moment. -pats and gives a cookie-))

With the squirrel firmly clenched between her teeth Badgerfang sniffed the air, unable to smell anything but the dead prey. Huffing she set the rodent down and too a step back, opening her jaws to smell and taste where the Peakclan border was. Instead of the familiar windblown smell of rock and snow she got a nose and mouthful of Forestclan. Picking up her squirrel quickly Badgerfang looked around and took off in a run, praying that she was headed for her own territory. It was just her luck to be going the opposite, getting deeper and deeper into the dense forest, letting out a surprised yowl as she ran straight into a sitting she-cat. Badgerfang lost her footing, twisting into a fall and rolling to a stop in a pile of dead leaves, the prey she had caught no longer in her jaws and strewn a few tail lengths away. Blue eyes narrowed in shock, fur already beginning to stick out as she slowly got to her paws.

Branchtail was ripped out of her dreariness by a loud yowl, and before she knew what happened something slammed into her, sending her spawling and she thudded into a nearby tree. Stunned, it took her a while before she realized what had hit her. It was a cat, smelling of PeakClan. Fluffing out her fur, she snarled. "Hey, why did you attack me in my own territory!?"

Badgerfang let out a hiss as the she-cat accused her of attacking. It had been an accident, she didn't want to shed blood over a misunderstanding. Laying her ears back she arched her back and let her hackles bristle out, making her seem larger than she really was. Peakclan cats were usually already larger than the other clan cats but it never hurt to fluff out her fur a bit and try to intimidate the other she-cat into standing down. "I didn't attack you." Badgerclan stated with a low meow, blue eyes darting to where her squirrel was laying. "I don't want any trouble, I'm gonna take my kill and go."

"Likely story." She stared at the other cat with her piercing eyes. She stopped and sniffed the air, seeing if there were any other cats around. "Pick up your fresh kill. Start walking. Don't so much as look behind you." She growled, glaring at the She-Cat.

Badgerfang hissed darkly, baring her teeth as her ears pressed flat against her skull. "Watch your tone, fox-face, you're speaking to the Peakclan deputy." The fluffy cat snarled, unsheathing her claws in a show of force as she padded towards the squirrel she had caught. "Why don't you keep it? Forestclan needs all the help it gets." The creamy she-cat meowed, blue eyes narrowed condescendingly. "There's plenty more prey in the valley that I can catch." Badgerfang prodded the squirrel with her paw. "You look awfully hungry, go ahead, have a bite." She baited with a curling of her tail, hackles beginning to smooth down.

She snarled. "I don't care who you are, this is ForestClan territory." She looked at the squirrle, furrowing her nose. "Yeah, like I would eat something that was covered in your mountain spit." She smirked, unafraid. As long as she had a tree to climb she would be fine. ((She doesn't know about PeakClan also being good climbers.))

Badgerfang let out a loud yowl, tail lashing as the Forestclan cat insulted her, crouching down low the deputy growled. Her short fuse had just been lit and her sharp temper was making her blind. Bunching her muscles Badgerfang launched forward with all her speed and strength, claws unsheathed and aimed at the other she-cat's muzzle.

Branchtail jumped back, but hit the tree, causing the Deputy's claws to rake her cheek. She let out a yowl of warning, trying to call to Stormrunner and Egretcloud for help. She quickly began to climb up the tree, not looking back to see if the cat was following her.

Perking his ears, he heard a loud yowl close by. Running towards the yowl, Stormrunner skidded to a halt below the tree that Branchtail had fled up. "Peakclan filth!" He hissed at the deputy who had attacked Branchtail. "How dare you attack us on our territory!" Stormrunner growled, his tail lashing harshly.

Egretcloud nearly halted when she saw the three cats begin to attack; she was pitiful at fighting; and seeing the Peakclan deputy's size and power made her feel like a kit. She was hesitant to fight at first, but then she knocked some sense back into herself; My friend's in trouble! Why should I shy away now, when that Peakclan cat is in MY territory!? She yowled and launched herself into the fight, her pale blue eyes blazing with fury. "You mouse-brained fool! Attacking in our territory? You deserve to die!" She hissed as she aimed for the stranger's face with her unsheathed claws. (Changed the font and size to make it easier to read ;w;)

Stormrunner jumped back in surprise as Egretcloud leapt at the Peakclan deputy and then looked up at Branchtail. "Can you come down?" He yowled out, glancing over to Egretcloud to make sure she was okay. Prepared to jump at the cat at any time, he waited for Branchtail to respond.

Badgerfang let out a caterwaul as another tom and she-cat arrived, undoubtedly a patrol that the she-cat in the tree belonged to. When the grey she-cat leaped at her with claws unsheathed the Peakclan deputy crouched down in a brace, yowling as sharp claws raked across her nose and whiskers. Rearing up on her hind legs the deputy batted at the smaller she-cat's ears, trying to shred them. "Kill me and you'll start a war with all of Peakclan." Badgerfang hissed, coming back down to four paws, lip curling back in a snarl.

Egretcloud hissed as she was flown back, hitting the ground with a loud crash. She struggled to get back up, but her legs gave up and she flopped back down. Her pale blues eyes were glazed with both pain and fury. "As if I care! I'll die if I have to; as long as Forestclan claims victory!" She yowled hoarsely, her muscles tense as though she were going to attack, but she stayed in her place. The scars on her pelt were bleeding quickly as she slowly went to stand up.
